On November 6th, 2016, members of the CCHS met at Capitol Plaza for a celebration of the Society's 75th anniversary. The members met in the Missouri room at the Plaza to conduct the annual membership meeting, in which new board members where nominated and approved by majority vote of all members present. Jeremy Amick received the Catherine and Alex Hope Award for his tireless work focused on military history. Amick has authored more than 500 published articles and four books and is a volunteer with Silver Star Families of America, a nonprofit organization honoring the sacrifices of veterans wounded during combat with the Silver Star Banner. Dr. Steve Belko, Executive Director of the Missouri Humanities Council, delivered the keynote speech on Missouri’s German heritage corridor. The initiative aims to showcase the significant influence and history of German cultural heritage in Missouri and spans 115 German settlements in 16 counties.
